Description Technical Specs The Author

Using many unique and previously unpublished photographs, this remarkable book follows the story of KG55, the only Luftwaffe bomber unit to fly the Heinkel He111 throughout WWII. The twin-engine Heinkel bombers of KG55 carried the red Greif (Griffon) badge of the Geschwader through Poland, the Battle of France, the Battle of Britain and the Blitz, and finally to defeat in Russia.
Previously unpublished photographs of the Luftwaffe are particularly sought after. Here is an impressive collection of photographs and stories from the men of KG55, collected largely from the German veterans who flew with this bomber unit. Supporting these photographs are four pages of specially commissioned paintings detailing the camouflage and markings worn by the Heinkels. A complete listing of aircraft and crew losses in the west is also included.
