About this title...

Big Joe McCarthy was big in stature and big in personality. He was born in the USA but joined the Royal Canadian Air Force to get involved in WWII. Flying Hampdens and then Lancasters with 97 Squadron, he and his crew were posted to the newly forming 617 Squadron and subsequently took part in the famous ‘Dambuster Raid’. He remained with ‘The Dambusters’ for over a year, taking part in many of their famous operations that followed.

This book tells his life story with the aid of over 100 photos, many supplied from his family’s private albums.
